El-Rufai Reacts to Kaduna’s Debt Allegations

El-Rufai made the claim while responding to Governor Sani’s recent remarks about the state’s debt, in which Sani alleged that the financial burden inherited from the previous administration was overwhelming.

In an interview with Freedom Radio Kaduna, later uploaded to YouTube, El-Rufai asserted that Governor Sani’s administration is struggling due to incompetence and lack of vision. He further alleged that the federal government sees him as a potential threat and has tasked Uba Sani with politically undermining him.

“A Political Contract to Weaken Me” – El-Rufai

“The reason Uba Sani is making these statements is that he was given a contract,” El-Rufai said. “They told him: ‘Go and tarnish, destroy, and politically cripple Nasir El-Rufai because we believe he will oppose Tinubu in the future.’”

He claimed that the federal government is backing Governor Sani financially in exchange for his cooperation in the alleged plot.

Federal Government’s Alleged Role in the Power Struggle

“They assured him, ‘We will keep funding you for projects, and you can take as much as you want, but make sure you deal with this man because he is a threat.’ That is the contract Uba Sani accepted,” El-Rufai alleged.

The accusations come amid growing tensions between the two political allies-turned-rivals, raising speculation about a deeper power struggle within the ruling party as Nigeria inches closer to the 2027 elections.
