Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that he was introduced to politics by Pastor Tunde Bakare, not former President Muhammadu Buhari.
Speaking in an interview with BBC Hausa on Thursday, El-Rufai disclosed that Bakare took him to meet Buhari, but his decision to join the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not influenced by the former president.

The ex-governor, who recently dumped APC for the Social Democratic Party (SDP), stated that the ruling party had lost its way, accusing its members of prioritizing personal gain over governance.
“The government is commercialized; everything has a price tag,” El-Rufai lamented.
Accusations Against APC Leadership
He further criticized the APC for sidelining loyal members while favoring a select few.
“Justice has been pushed aside. Those who worked for the party were ignored instead of being rewarded. If there is any appointment, they give it to a ‘Lagos boy.’”
Buhari Gave Me His Blessings to Leave
El-Rufai said he had informed both Bakare and Buhari about his decision to leave APC, adding that Buhari gave him his blessings and prayers.
“Buhari is now a father of the nation, and he has been praying for us. That’s all that remains,” he concluded.
