Senator Felix Ogunwale, a former lawmaker who represented Osun Central between 2003 and 2007, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His resignation letter was addressed to Osun PDP Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi, and Governor Ademola Adeleke. In it, he cited “personal growth” and “genuine commitment to the welfare of his people” as the main reasons for his decision.

The Ward 01 PDP leadership in Iragbiji, Boripe Local Government, confirmed the development.

Reacting to the news, Ward 01 PDP Chairperson, Mrs. Taibat Oladimeji, described Ogunwale’s exit as “a relief.” She revealed he had not participated in any party activities for the past year.

To maintain protocol, she added that the ward would officially notify PDP leaders at both state and national levels.

Reading her message, party elder Alhaji Abayomi Adegoke reaffirmed the executives’ loyalty to the PDP. He also restated their support for the Adeleke-led administration.

Ward Congress Reaffirms Support for Adeleke

According to Oladimeji, the special congress followed party constitutional procedures. It was convened to assess the party’s situation following Ogunwale’s resignation.

She explained that the meeting included stakeholders, observers, and members from Ward 01, which holds the largest voter base in Boripe LGA.

During the congress, members passed a vote of confidence in Governor Adeleke. They praised his performance over the last two years.

Key achievements include:

Prompt payment of workers’ salaries and retirees’ pensions

Clearance of salary arrears from the previous APC-led administration

Provision of new tractors for mechanized farming

Youth empowerment through Imole Youth Corps

Support for businesses via soft loans

The congress noted that these milestones should inspire unity. It urged loyal members to remain in the PDP and back the governor’s efforts.

The congress also praised the leadership of Hon. Sunday Bisi and welcomed Hon. Adekunle Onikola as the new Boripe PDP Chairman.

They expressed confidence in his ability to unite the party and deliver electoral victories.

Delegates further applauded the peaceful conduct of the Southwest Zonal Congress in Ibadan. They congratulated the new zonal leaders, led by Engr. Kamoru Toyese Ajisafe.

Moreover, they urged other zones to emulate the Southwest’s peaceful leadership model. They encouraged the new team to grow the party in Osun and Oyo and win more states.

The congress also recognized the National Working Committee (NWC) for its resilience as the voice of Nigerians. It urged the national leadership to resolve internal grievances and prepare to reclaim power in 2027.

Adeleke Backed for Second Term

Finally, the congress endorsed Governor Adeleke for a second term, citing his developmental strides.

“We are proud of our governor,” the members declared. “Imole till 2030.”

Meanwhile, Hon. Tunde Onikola pledged to unite Boripe PDP members and strengthen the party’s presence under his leadership.
