Nigerians aren’t just celebrating love on Valentine’s Day, they’re making it a month-long affair. Ride-hailing and courier service inDrive reports a major spike in delivery requests throughout February. Orders on February 14th doubled compared to last year, and demand remained 30% higher than in January.

Gifting Goes Beyond One Day

“This growing trend suggests that love isn’t just for Valentine’s, it lasts all month,” said Timothy Oladimeji, Senior Country Representative for inDrive Nigeria. “More people are using delivery services to send thoughtful gifts, surprise packages, and even fulfill small business orders.”

Small Businesses Benefit from Fast Deliveries

For many small businesses, quick and reliable delivery is essential, especially during busy seasons. In Lagos, inDrive couriers typically arrive within 1-2 minutes, with an average pickup time of just 15 minutes. This speed helps businesses manage increased orders and meet customer demands effortlessly.

Personalized Gifts Are Driving Demand

Custom jewelry, handwritten letters, gourmet treats, and bespoke hampers have been some of the most requested items. This shift shows a growing preference for meaningful, personalized gifts rather than mass-produced products.

inDrive Keeps Deliveries Moving

As February comes to an end, inDrive remains committed to fast, fair, and accessible courier services, ensuring that special moments are never missed, no matter the season.

About inDrive

inDrive is a global ride-hailing platform with over 200 million downloads, operating in more than 700 cities across 45+ countries. Headquartered in Mountain View, California, it ranks as the world’s second-largest ride-hailing and taxi app by downloads. Since its official launch in 2013, inDrive has rapidly expanded, offering a unique peer-to-peer pricing model that sets it apart from competitors.

Unlike traditional ride-hailing services, inDrive allows passengers and drivers to negotiate fares directly through its app, ensuring flexibility and fair pricing. The platform serves both small towns with as few as 10,000 residents, often in areas with weak internet and limited mapping, and major metropolitan cities with intense competition.

According to OZY, inDrive’s commission rates are significantly lower than other major services, averaging just 5–8% per ride, with a standard commission of 12.99%. Payments can be made directly to drivers via cash or digital transactions. The inDrive app is available for Android and iOS, providing users with seamless access to affordable and transparent transportation.
