A Former female Presidential Candidate of the Federal Republic Prof

Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has joined several well meaning Nigerian to call on the Federal Government of Nigeria and relevant security agencies to immediately investigate and, where necessary, arrest Islamic cleric Ahmad Gumi over what she described as “dangerous and controversial utterances capable of undermining national security and peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.”

Professor Adesanya-Davies expressed deep concern over repeated public comments allegedly linked to Sheikh Gumi regarding banditry, terrorism, negotiations with armed groups, and controversial narratives surrounding insecurity in Nigeria. She noted that many Nigerians across ethnic and religious lines have continued to demand accountability and transparency concerning individuals perceived to be sympathetic to criminal elements terrorizing innocent citizens.

According to her, “Nigeria cannot continue to tolerate statements or actions that appear to justify, rationalize, or indirectly encourage criminality, terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and mass killings across the nation. The blood of innocent Nigerians cries out daily for justice.”

She emphasized that no individual, regardless of status, religion, or regional affiliation, should be above the law, stressing that the same legal standards applied to separatists, agitators, and political activists must equally apply to all persons accused of making inflammatory or divisive comments.

Professor Adesanya-Davies further stated that the continued killings, kidnappings, displacement of communities, attacks on churches, schools, and villages by armed bandits and jihadist groups require decisive national action rather than “political silence and selective justice.”

She urged the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Police Force, the National Security Adviser, and the Federal Ministry of Justice to thoroughly investigate all allegations surrounding public statements connected to support for negotiations, amnesty, or justification for armed groups. She also called for an independent judicial inquiry into all persons allegedly linked with terrorism financing, ideological encouragement, or negotiation channels with bandits.

While acknowledging that Sheikh Gumi has publicly defended himself as a “peace mediator” and denied supporting criminal groups, Professor Adesanya-Davies insisted that national security matters must be handled transparently and impartially in order to restore public confidence.

She warned that failure to act decisively against all forms of extremism and insecurity could further deepen ethnic tensions, religious distrust, and national instability.

“Nigeria belongs to all of us. Christians, Muslims, and traditional believers must unite against terrorism, kidnapping, genocide, and criminal violence. Peace without justice cannot endure,” she said.

The respected academic and cleric therefore called on Nigerians to remain vigilant, law-abiding, prayerful, and united in the collective pursuit of truth, justice, equity, restructuring, and peaceful coexistence.

She concluded by urging the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu to demonstrate equal commitment in addressing all security threats across the federation without bias, fear, or favoritism.

“Justice must not be selective. National unity can only survive where fairness, accountability, and security prevail,” she declared.

Do arrest GUMI and other Jihadists, Bandits, Kidnappers and Fulani Killers sympathizers now!!!
