NSCEA Throws Support Behind CCYF Protest – Adesanya-Davies Speaks

News of the Concerned Christian Youth Forum’s (CCYF) planned peaceful protest in Abuja has gone viral. The demonstration is in response to what the group describes as increasing attacks on the Christian faith and its leaders, allegedly backed by Omoyele Sowore and his associates.

In a statement signed by its convener, James Adama, the forum explained:

“This protest is being organized to address the increasing disrespect and hostility directed toward Christianity and our religious leaders by Sowore and his associates.”

He continued, “It is deeply troubling that Christianity and Christian leaders are being deliberately targeted, our beliefs and traditions are being disrespected, and our faith is being undermined. These actions are reportedly backed by financial support aimed at provoking religious unrest.”

Adama also used the opportunity to draw attention to the rising levels of violence across Nigeria.

“We are calling on the government to urgently address the alarming increase in killings and bloodshed across the country. This senseless violence must come to an end, and the government must take decisive action.”

The CCYF is calling on all Christian youths in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to participate in the peaceful protest, which is scheduled to take place on May 21 at 10:00 AM, concluding by 2:00 PM. The venue is the Unity Fountain, opposite Transcorp Hilton, Maitama, Abuja.

To ensure broad participation, Adama stated that free buses decorated with CCYF banners will be provided from various locations across the city and all six area councils of the FCT.

Thus, the Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA) applauds the Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) for their courageous decision to stage a peaceful protest in response to the growing attacks on Christians and their leaders in Nigeria. This bold move demonstrates the CCYF’s commitment to promoting peace, unity, and religious freedom.

According the Bishop Prof Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies Secretary, Elders’ Council Nigerian Supreme Council for Ecclesiastical Affairs (NSCEA), “The NSCEA commends the CCYF for taking a stand against violence and intolerance, and for advocating for the rights and safety of Christians in Nigeria. We believe that this peaceful protest will serve as a catalyst for meaningful dialogue and collective action to address the security challenges facing Christians and other vulnerable groups in the country.”

The NSCEA stands in solidarity with the CCYF and calls on all Nigerians to support their efforts in promoting peace, unity, and religious tolerance. We urge the government and relevant authorities to listen to the concerns of the CCYF and take concrete steps to address the security challenges facing Christians and other citizens. Together, we can build a more just and peaceful society for all Nigerians.

Kudos to the Concerned Christian Youth Forum (CCYF) for organizing a peaceful protest to address the concerning attacks on Christians and their leaders in Nigeria! This courageous step demonstrates their commitment to promoting peace, unity, and religious freedom.

By taking a stand against violence and intolerance, the CCYF is: ‘Amplifying their voices by ‘Peacefully expressing their concerns and demands for safety and security’; ‘Promoting unity in the country: Bringing together Christians from various backgrounds to stand against injustice’, as well as ‘Advocating for peace in Nigeria and this as well ‘Demonstrating their commitment to peaceful resolution and coexistence’.

Adesanya-Davies added, “This is a very welcome development which is well overdue and we at NSCEA are wishing the CCYF a successful and peaceful outing protest! THANKS TO THE YOUTH RESCUE TEAM, WE BELIEVE IN THE CHRISTIAN YOUTH, AND WE BELIEVE IN YOU – CCYF!

This is because Christians in their own Nigeria must be FREE from homicide (the act of killing another person, either intentionally or unintentionally. It is a serious crime and can be classified as murder, an intentional killing with malice aforethought; being cloned and clothed as Christian persecution in Nigeria !!!”
