The Country President of the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), Amb. Engr. Peter Ohagwa, has praised President Tinubu for approving the establishment and deployment of a new corps of armed forest guards. The initiative aims to secure 1,129 forests nationwide and eliminate terrorists and bandits hiding in these areas.

This recent development is a joint effort between the Federal and State Government and will see thousands of young Nigerians recruited, trained, and equipped to take off on this crucial National Assignment

Amb.Ohagwa in a Statement describes the development as timely intervention in the security Re-enforcement of the country aimed at protection of lives and property, urged for concerted efforts by all stakeholders towards Effective Actualisation of the initiative.

He still appealed and maintained that local vigilante in our various rural communities across the federation should be part of the formation and recruited with vigorous training join the corps towards improved service delivery.

Recall that UN-POLAC Country President on 26th February 2025 during a one day national dialogue on promoting peace building and climate -smart agriculture as catalyst for economic growth and food security held in Abuja requested that the Federal Government of Nigeria considers the Rehabilitation or Re-establishment of Forest Security Corps in our forests to keep criminals and kidnappers away while providing a safe environment for famers and creating jobs for our teaming youths.

“Furthermore, during the last Sallah celebration, when UN-POLAC felicitated with Muslim Faithfuls, this was captured as we commended the federal government move that made National Assembly to be committed in driving the force that made it possible for the push to pass second reading and now the President has stamped the Approval as well as deployment,is really commendable and a step in the right direction”,he added.

According to The UNPOLAC Boss, this new and welcomed development of Present Administration would reduce drastically criminalities as well as kidnapping in boundary forests across Federation which has become safe haven for criminals.

He however charged the office of the National Security Adviser NSA and Federal ministry of Environment who are to oversee the effective implementation of the initiative to be proactive towards timely execution
