The Presidency has firmly denied reports suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima has been barred from entering the Presidential Villa, describing the claims as baseless and deliberately misleading.
In a statement released on Saturday, April 19, Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, dismissed the circulating narrative as a calculated attempt to sow discord within the top echelons of government.
“There has been a well-orchestrated campaign of falsehood targeting the Vice President and his office,” Nkwocha said. “These fabrications are designed to suggest a non-existent conflict at the highest levels of leadership.”
Referring specifically to online reports that alleged military personnel had blocked Shettima from accessing the Villa, Nkwocha labeled the story as “the wildest expression of wishful thinking.” He further stated that only those unfamiliar with the workings of Nigeria’s government could fall for such misinformation.
“This is yet another addition to a growing string of disinformation aimed at confusing the public and casting doubt on the unity of the presidency. For the record, nothing of the sort ever happened,” he stressed.
Nkwocha also linked the false claims to a broader campaign to undermine the credibility and constitutional commitment of both President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Shettima. He referenced recent fake campaign posters as another tactic used to stir controversy, asserting that those behind these plots are bound to fail.
The Presidency reiterated its stance against fake news and urged Nigerians to disregard unverified reports designed to destabilize the nation’s leadership.
