In a show of solidarity with President Bola Tinubu’s humanitarian initiatives, members of the House of Representatives have contributed N705 million, deducting 50% of their salaries for six months to support vulnerable Nigerians.
The donation was announced on Monday night during an Iftar gathering at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where Tinubu hosted the House leadership and members.
According to Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, the lawmakers’ contribution aims to bolster the government’s relief efforts for struggling Nigerians.
Speaker Abbas: Reps Stand With Tinubu
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas, expressed appreciation for Tinubu’s engagement with lawmakers and reiterated their support for his administration’s policies.
He emphasized that the donation reflects their commitment to humanitarian efforts and urged Nigerians to pray for the country’s progress, particularly in areas of economic stability and security. Abbas assured that every member of the House remains dedicated to ensuring the success of government policies designed to improve the lives of citizens.
