In celebration of Global Money Week (GMW) 2025, Polaris Bank hosted an impactful financial literacy session at NANA College, Warri, educating students on the importance of smart money management, saving, and investing.

The event, which saw a full hall of enthusiastic students and staff, was led by Mr. Andrew Komori, Group Head of Polaris Bank, who delivered a thought-provoking lecture on financial empowerment. Representing the MD/CEO, Komori highlighted the significance of financial literacy as a life skill that shapes a secure future.

“Financial literacy is not just about spending wisely but making informed decisions to avoid debt and build wealth,” Komori emphasized. He explained the key differences between saving, setting money aside for short-term goals, and investing, which involves using funds to grow wealth through avenues like stocks and mutual funds.

Komori urged students to adopt both saving and investing habits early, as they are crucial for long-term financial success. “Achieving financial freedom requires a balance of earning, saving, and smart investing,” he added.

An Engaging and Interactive Session

The session was interactive, with students eagerly asking questions and sharing their personal experiences. This engaging dialogue showed the students’ enthusiasm for learning about money management, and Mr. Komori responded with practical insights to help them apply the lessons to real-life scenarios.

NANA College’s Principal, Mrs. Madamedon, expressed her gratitude for the session, stating, “Polaris Bank’s commitment to investing in the future of our students is invaluable. The knowledge shared today will serve them throughout their lives.”

Vice Principal Mrs. Onakufe also praised the event, noting, “The session has already sparked vital conversations among our students about financial decision-making that will impact them as they grow into adulthood.”

Expanding Financial Literacy Across Nigeria

Polaris Bank’s financial literacy initiative extends beyond NANA College, with visits to schools across Nigeria, including Excel International School, Damaturu, Baptist High School, Ede, and more. These sessions aim to equip students nationwide with the tools to make wise financial choices.

Supporting Global Money Week’s Mission

Global Money Week, an annual global initiative, encourages young people to learn about money management and entrepreneurship. Polaris Bank’s efforts align with this year’s theme, “Think before you follow, wise money tomorrow,” striving to foster a generation of financially responsible individuals.
