In a heartwarming display of corporate social responsibility, Fidelity Bank Plc recently extended a helping hand to residents of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, by distributing food packs to seven underserved communities in the Mabushi district.

The initiative, branded as the Fidelity Food Bank, is part of the bank’s ongoing commitment to alleviating hunger and supporting community development. The bank’s outreach is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 2, which strives to end hunger and promote food security.

Fidelity Bank’s Commitment to Sustainable Development

Mr. Sufiyanu Garba, Executive Director, North at Fidelity Bank, underscored the bank’s dedication to tackling hunger and poverty. “This initiative is an integral part of our responsibility to uplift underserved communities and contribute to the eradication of hunger in Nigeria,” said Garba during the distribution event. “We believe that addressing the root causes of hunger is essential to making a lasting impact. While we may not solve all the challenges, we are proud to know that our efforts are having a meaningful effect.”

The Fidelity Food Bank focuses primarily on providing food relief to vulnerable groups, especially women and children. It is part of the bank’s broader CSR strategy, which prioritizes health and social welfare across the nation.

A Community Grateful for Support

The District Head of Mabushi, Mr. Hassan Danagna, expressed immense gratitude for the bank’s support, particularly in light of current economic hardships. “Fidelity Bank’s intervention is timely, especially as we approach the holy month of Ramadan,” he said. “Their generosity has brought much-needed relief to families who are struggling.”

Beneficiaries, such as Mr. Mukhtar Mohamed, shared similar sentiments, praising the bank for its timely and impactful assistance.

Fidelity Bank: A Leader in Community Development

Fidelity Bank continues to cement its role as a leading financial institution, not just through its banking services but by making a positive difference in communities across Nigeria. With a customer base of over 9.1 million, the bank operates across 251 business offices and offers a range of digital banking solutions.

The bank’s efforts have earned it numerous accolades, including the 2024 Excellence in Digital Transformation & MSME Banking Award and recognition as the Best Bank for SMEs in Nigeria by the Euromoney Awards for Excellence.
