Polaris Bank, in partnership with Evolve Trust Charity, continued its commitment to education by visiting Gbaja Girls (Junior and Senior) High School in Surulere, Lagos. The visit was part of their ongoing school essentials program, which supports students in public schools across Nigeria.

A Partnership for Educational Growth

Since its establishment in 2021, this partnership has impacted over 15,000 students across 35 public schools in nine states, including Lagos, Kano, Kogi, Imo, and the FCT, Abuja. The initiative provides students with:

  • Brain training techniques
  • Emotional intelligence education
  • Essential school supplies (bags, uniforms, sandals, books, and pens)
  • Training programs for teachers

All these efforts are fully sponsored by Polaris Bank to create a better learning environment for young students.

Polaris Bank’s Commitment to Education and Sustainability

Speaking at the event, Polaris Bank’s Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Mrs. Abimbola Ozomah, emphasized the bank’s alignment with global educational and sustainability goals.

“This event is not just about distributing educational materials; it’s about empowering girls for bigger roles. Educated girls grow into informed women. At Polaris Bank, we are committed to bridging the educational gap and building sustainability,” she said.

She encouraged students to embrace education, highlighting its power in shaping their future:

“Education is the most powerful tool at your disposal, and you must use it to the fullest. Polaris Bank will continue to support this mission to empower young girls who will drive positive change in our country and the world.”

Addressing the Education Gap in Nigeria

According to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Nigeria has approximately 10.5 million out-of-school children, with girls making up six million of that number.

Polaris Bank’s initiative aims to reduce these figures by ensuring that more girls have access to quality education and the resources they need to succeed.

Evolve Trust Charity Appreciates Polaris Bank’s Support

Ejeh Godwin, Programme Manager at Evolve Charity Trust, expressed deep appreciation for Polaris Bank’s support since the partnership began in 2021.

“I want to specially appreciate Polaris Bank for their tremendous support. We couldn’t have come this far without them. Thanks to their commitment, we’ve expanded our reach and plan to include even more schools across other states this year.”

Gratitude from Beneficiaries

The Principal of Gbaja Girls Junior High School, Mrs. Dabiri Nwabuoku Adetoun Iyabo, expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the initiative:

“You can feel the energy in the hall; the students are happy, and so are the staff. This has boosted our morale, and we are incredibly grateful to Polaris Bank for selecting our school as a beneficiary.”

Bankole Oreofeoluwa Emmanuella, the Assistant Senior Girl of the school, echoed the appreciation on behalf of the students:

“My friends and I are happy about this gesture from Polaris Bank, and we can’t thank the Bank enough. These items will further ease our learning, and we promise to not only put them to judicious use, but imbibe good maintenance culture,” Bankole said.

The event’s highlight was the presentation of items to students by officials from Polaris Bank and Evolve Charity Trust.
