The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has expelled Adolphus Wabara, the Chairman of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and a former Senate President, following allegations of misconduct.
The decision was reached on Tuesday during an emergency meeting of the State Working Committee (SWC), convened after the party’s Disciplinary Committee submitted its findings on Wabara’s case.
Official Statement Confirms Expulsion
In a statement signed by Abia PDP Chairman Abraham Amah and State Secretary Peter Nwaokonko, the party confirmed the expulsion, citing provisions in the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended).
“With reference to Articles 57(3) and 59(1) of our party’s constitution, the Abia PDP hereby upholds the expulsion of Senator Adolphus Wabara and recommends the immediate appointment of an Acting BoT Chairman by the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC),” the statement read.
Wabara’s Suspension and Party Infighting
Wabara had been suspended weeks earlier over alleged anti-party activities, but the PDP’s national leadership later overturned the suspension. His expulsion marks a deepening internal rift within the party.
