The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing its remaining members as “undertakers waiting to bury a dying party.”
The statement, issued by Lagos APC Publicity Secretary Seye Oladejo, followed a new wave of pdp defections 2025, which he said signaled the final collapse of the opposition party.
Oladejo: PDP in Denial Over Growing Defections
Oladejo criticized the PDP for dismissing what he described as a mass exodus from its ranks, saying the opposition was “deceiving itself” by downplaying its internal crisis.
“The PDP’s claim that defections cannot weaken it is laughable and exposes its chronic denial and self-deception,” Oladejo said.
“What we are witnessing is not mere political migration but the collapse of a party built on deceit, lack of ideology, and betrayal.”
He maintained that even long-standing PDP loyalists had lost faith in the party, which “refused to reform or present a credible alternative to Nigerians.”
“Those still clinging to the PDP are merely undertakers, staying behind to perform the final rites of a once-dominant but now lifeless political entity,” he added.
APC Links PDP Defections 2025 to Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda
According to Oladejo, the pdp defections 2025 demonstrate growing trust in President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which he described as restoring optimism and stability to the nation.
He accused the PDP of mismanaging Nigeria during its 16-year rule, arguing that it could not suddenly reinvent itself as a credible opposition while “mired in confusion and leadership crises.”
“It’s time for the PDP to walk alone on its long, dark road to 2027. The party’s glory days are gone, and the sooner it accepts that reality, the less humiliating its final exit will be,” he said.
APC Urges PDP to Admit Failures and Move On
The APC spokesman urged the PDP to conduct an honest post-mortem of its failures and accept its fading relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape.
“These defections are not just political victories for the APC; they are endorsements of our commitment to progress, stability, and people-centred leadership,” Oladejo stated.
“Nigerians are speaking loudly, the era of deceitful opposition politics is over.”
