The National Democratic Congress (NDC) says Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have been in talks with its leadership.
The party’s Deputy Publicity Secretary, Abdulmumin Abdulsalam, revealed this while addressing ongoing political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the discussions involve the NDC’s National Leader, Seriake Dickson, and have been ongoing for some time.
Speaking in an interview with Punch, Abdulsalam said the engagement with the two opposition figures reflects a possible alliance currently under consideration.
He noted that recent legal uncertainties in the political space may be adding weight to the speculations, although he stopped short of confirming any agreement.
The NDC spokesman added that the party is open to welcoming both Obi and Kwankwaso if they decide to join, stressing that their names were earlier forwarded by the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
“Obi is welcome in our party, and so is Kwankwaso. They have held discussions with our national leaders, so the public should stay attentive,” he said.
He further stated that the party is willing to offer them its presidential ticket, adding that the final outcome would depend on how events unfold.
