Nigerian gospel singer Mercy Chinwo has opened up about her legal fight with her former manager, EeZee Tee. In an emotional video, she accused EeZee Tee of bullying and threatening her, leading her to relocate from Lagos to Port Harcourt for safety.
Chinwo claimed that her ex-manager withheld her royalties for two years and called him a “bully” and an “oppressor.” She explained that the dispute began when she refused to sign a contract extension after their initial agreement in 2017.
“I was forced to move because the environment became toxic,” Chinwo said. “You can’t destroy me, only God has that power.”
EeZee Tee’s Response
EeZee Tee responded in an Instagram post, denying the accusations and stating that he had gone to the EFCC over the matter. He alleged that Mercy breached their contract, leading to the court case. He also claimed that Mercy diverted revenue into her personal account, refusing to remit the funds.
“It’s about justice, truth, and integrity, not just money,” he said.
EFCC Investigation and Legal Developments
Chinwo’s lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, revealed that during an EFCC investigation in 2024, it was found that EeZee Tee had unlawfully diverted $274,000 from Mercy’s earnings. EeZee Tee reportedly admitted to having two contracts with Chinwo, one from 2017 and another added two years later, and pleaded for a peaceful resolution.
However, EeZee Tee claims that he was detained by the EFCC for nine days and had $274,000 extorted from him. He has challenged Mercy to reveal her bank statements from the past three years.
As the legal process unfolds, both sides remain at the center of a contentious battle that continues to impact their careers. With the potential for further legal developments, it remains to be seen how this dispute will ultimately be resolved.
