The Lagos State Science Research and Innovation Council (LASRIC) has announced three transformative programs aimed at fostering innovation, advancing scientific research, and driving technological breakthroughs in Lagos State. These initiatives are designed to position Lagos as a hub for innovation while empowering individuals to collaboratively shape the state’s future.
The Innovation Challenge targets startups and bold thinkers in fields such as agritech, circular economy, and disruptive emerging technologies. Participants will have access to funding and mentorship opportunities to refine their ideas into scalable and impactful solutions. Exceptional innovations will also be eligible for equity investment from LASRIC, underscoring the state’s commitment to entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
The STEM Challenge focuses on educational impact by supporting solutions that enhance STEM knowledge for students across primary, secondary, and tertiary institutions. The program prioritizes areas such as AI/robotics, GreenTech, EdTech, and inclusivity tech, equipping innovators with the tools to build the next generation of skilled professionals.
The Request for Research Proposals initiative is designed for researchers and innovators in higher education, encouraging groundbreaking R&D projects that address societal challenges. It emphasizes sectors like public service, circular economy, and emerging technologies while fostering collaboration among academic and research institutions to produce tangible economic and social benefits.
LASRIC’s mission is to empower individuals and institutions with resources and support to transform ideas into solutions that enhance quality of life and contribute to the economic development of Lagos State.
