…State Government Takes Bold Step in Healthcare Transformation
The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the installation of state-of-the-art medical equipment at the State Trauma Centre, Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku Awka.
The contract, awarded to Oxygen Healthcare Ltd, is expected to enhance healthcare services at the teaching hospital, according to the Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor.
Governor Soludo’s Commitment to Healthcare Overhaul
This development is part of Governor Charles Soludo’s broader vision to revamp the state’s healthcare system. His administration has already delivered a new general hospital in the Okpoko community, Ogbaru Local Government Area, fully equipped with modern medical facilities.
Dr. Chinasa Eze, from the Ophthalmology Unit of Okpoko General Hospital, commended the governor’s efforts, noting significant improvements in eye care services. Additionally, free antenatal care has been introduced for pregnant women in the community.
Expanding Access to Quality Healthcare
Beyond Okpoko, the government is constructing a primary healthcare center in Nawfia, Njikoka Local Government Area. Several primary healthcare centers have been upgraded, while five new general hospitals have been built, featuring advanced medical technology and skilled personnel.
Boosting Manpower and Introducing Telemedicine
To further strengthen the sector, Soludo’s administration has recruited 1,000 health professionals, including doctors, nurses, consultants, pharmacists, and medical laboratory technicians. The introduction of telemedicine has also made quality healthcare more accessible to residents.
Soludo Recognized for Outstanding Performance
Governor Soludo’s efforts have earned him national recognition. He was recently honored as the best-performing governor in primary healthcare delivery in both the Southeast and across Nigeria, underscoring his administration’s commitment to healthcare excellence.
