The wife of former Rivers State Head of Service, George Nwaeke, has raised concerns over her husband’s sudden disappearance after he arrived in Abuja, sparking fears of possible coercion.
Last Contact Before Disappearance
Speaking to journalists late Friday, a visibly distressed Florence Nwaeke revealed that she lost contact with her husband shortly after he landed in the nation’s capital.
“When he got to Abuja, he called to say he had arrived safely. I was relieved,” she recounted. “But later that night, I started receiving calls that he had given an interview. I was shocked, what interview? About what? That is not my husband!”
Mrs. Nwaeke said her attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, fueling suspicions that he might be in danger. “I sent him a message asking, ‘Are you under duress? Have you been kidnapped? Why aren’t you responding?’” she lamented.
Controversial Allegations and Plea for Help
Her appeal came hours after a controversial interview in which George Nwaeke accused Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara of plotting to support Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed in the 2027 presidential election. He also alleged that the governor was in talks with militants to instigate attacks on oil installations.
In a separate video, Mrs. Nwaeke made a direct plea to Governor Fubara for intervention. “Governor, help me! My husband is in trouble,” she begged, adding that he had resigned from his position under duress and was being forced to make confessions.
“Nigerians, help me! Nigerians, help me!” she cried, calling for urgent intervention to secure her husband’s safety.
