The appointment of Governor Ademola Adeleke as a coordinator for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign has reportedly generated tension within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State.
The development comes amid disagreements within the party over the structure and leadership of the president’s campaign in the state.
On Monday, the Osun APC cautioned members against organising parallel campaign activities, stressing that all efforts to secure Tinubu’s re-election must be coordinated through the party’s recognised leadership.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC secretariat in Osogbo, the state capital, the party’s chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said an effective campaign committee had been established to coordinate activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Lawal explained that party stakeholders had agreed to work collectively through a presidential campaign committee scheduled for inauguration on Tuesday.
He added that the state working committee would collaborate with Agba Osun, described as the party’s highest decision-making body in the state, to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The APC chairman also warned individuals and groups against setting up independent campaign structures, urging anyone interested in supporting the president to operate within the party’s established framework.
Adeleke’s appointment has reportedly unsettled some APC stakeholders who had anticipated that Gboyega Oyetola, the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and a prominent party leader in Osun, would be named the state’s campaign coordinator.
Lawal further appealed to party members and supporters to move beyond the outcome of the August 15, 2026, governorship election and concentrate on preparations for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Adeleke contested the governorship election under the platform of the Accord Party and was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the reported results, he secured 511,067 votes to defeat the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who received 444,815 votes.
