Less than two weeks after their previous engagement, political allies of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, have met again as efforts continue to ease the political tension in the state.
Wike headed a delegation made up largely of members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, including Speaker Martin Amaewhule, alongside the 23 local government council chairmen. They met with Fubara and his supporters at the governor’s private residence in Port Harcourt.
The delegation also featured Kingsley Chinda, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Rivers State.

The meeting is part of renewed efforts to sustain dialogue and build on previous discussions aimed at resolving the lingering political crisis, which has deepened divisions within the state’s political leadership and created tensions between Fubara and lawmakers in the State House of Assembly.
Despite the latest engagement, it remains uncertain whether the discussions will produce a durable settlement. Questions have continued to emerge over the influence of Wike’s allies in local government leadership and the distribution of political opportunities ahead of the 2027 elections, with Fubara’s supporters seemingly having a limited role in the emerging arrangements.
