…Wike Touches Down in Milan
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Ezenwo Nyesom Wike CON, has arrived in Milan, Italy, for a series of official engagements, including a crucial meeting with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana.
Wike, who departed Abuja on Tuesday night, landed in Milan at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, where he was received by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affaires in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.
Strengthening International Partnerships
According to a statement by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike’s visit is aimed at fostering international partnerships, particularly in agriculture and vocational education.
“While in Milan, the FCT Minister will meet with the President of Lombardy Region on Thursday, as well as engage with agribusiness investors,” Olayinka said.
Why Lombardy Matters
Lombardy, regarded as Italy’s economic powerhouse, has a population of about 10 million and ranks as the second most populous region in the European Union. It also boasts one of the highest nominal GDPs in the EU.
The discussions with Fontana will focus on potential collaborations in agriculture, vocational training, and strategic development initiatives between Lombardy and the FCT.
Exploring Investment Opportunities
Beyond the high-profile meeting, Wike is set to engage with investors and industry experts in agribusiness and vocational training, exploring avenues to attract investment and drive development in the FCT.

Accompanying the Minister on the trip are key officials, including:
Dr. Danlami Hayyo – FCT Mandate Secretary for Education
Lawan Geidam – FCT Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development
Dr. Udo Samuel Atang – Senior Special Assistant on Administration
