A coalition of groups from the Niger Delta region has called on Chief Emmanuel Uduaghan, husband of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, to rein in his wife following her heated exchange with Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Thursday’s plenary session.

The coalition, operating under the aegis of Niger Delta Renaissance, condemned what they described as an “uncultured” and “disrespectful” outburst from the senator representing Kogi Central, insisting that such conduct is unacceptable and an affront to the region.

At an emergency meeting in Port Harcourt, the convener, High Chief Fidelis Akanah, demanded an apology from Chief Uduaghan on behalf of his wife, arguing that her actions reflected poorly on the men of Kogi, Delta, and the broader Niger Delta.

“It is disgraceful for a woman to raise her voice in such a manner against a respected political leader like Senator Akpabio. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated,” Akanah stated.

Questions Over Source of Boldness

The coalition further questioned the source of Senator Natasha’s boldness, suggesting it could have political or even mystical origins. “We are prepared to support any efforts to restore order and put her in her place,” the group declared.

Criticism of Character and Conduct

Another member, Madam Eunice Olisah from Delta State, criticized Senator Natasha’s remarks, stating that a woman’s true worth is reflected in her character and decorum rather than outward beauty.

Warning to Senator’s Husband

The group warned that if Chief Uduaghan fails to address the situation, they would consider him “a man under his wife’s control.”

The controversy has sparked debate over gender roles and political decorum in the country, with some defending the senator’s right to express herself in the male-dominated political arena.
