Wema Bank has once again asserted its dominance at the Nigeria Bankers Games (NBG) after emerging as the Overall Winner at the 2025 Grand Finale. The victory marks the bank’s fourth consecutive overall title at the prestigious sporting event, setting a new record in the competition’s history.

The bank topped the medals table with an impressive haul of nine gold medals, recording victories in several categories. These included Table Tennis (Female Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles), Volleyball, Scrabble, Video Games, 100m Female, 200m Female, and the 4x100m Female Relay.

Individual brilliance also shone through as Oluwaseun Adewunmi, a staff member of Wema Bank, was named the Nigeria Bankers Games 2025 Overall Outstanding Athlete. Her remarkable performances across multiple events reflected exceptional discipline, dedication, and resilience.

Reacting to the achievement, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank, Moruf Oseni, expressed pride in the team’s outstanding performance.

“Wema Bank Plc has once again won the Nigerian Bankers Games title for the fourth consecutive year. This remarkable feat sets a new benchmark in the Nigerian banking industry. As we commemorate 80 years of impact and service, this victory holds even deeper meaning for us as an institution,” he said.

He added that the success was made possible by the commitment and determination of the bank’s staff and athletes.

“We owe this incredible success to every staff member who competed with passion, focus, and grit. You are true champions. Your dedication to training and your stellar performances showcased the very best of our institution. This championship affirms that Wema Bank is a powerhouse where excellence is the standard, not the exception,” Oseni stated.

In her reaction, Oluwaseun Adewunmi described the recognition as a shared victory.

“I am deeply honoured to receive this award. Competing across several events and representing Wema Bank has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. This achievement belongs to my teammates and everyone who supported us throughout the tournament. I am grateful to Wema Bank for providing the platform, encouragement, and support that enabled us to perform at our very best,” she said.

As Wema Bank celebrates this historic fourth consecutive win, the institution reaffirmed its commitment to excellence, innovation, and teamwork. The latest victory, it noted, reflects not only sporting success but also the strong culture of resilience and collaboration that continues to drive its growth and leadership in the Nigerian banking sector.
