Popular social commentator Martin Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan, has strongly reacted to a court order for his arrest over alleged defamation of gospel singer Mercy Chinwo.
In a video statement, he dismissed the warrant as an attempt to silence him, alleging that corrupt legal figures were behind it.
Claims of Judicial Manipulation
VeryDarkMan, who revealed that he is currently outside Nigeria, questioned the legitimacy of the arrest warrant. He pointed out that he has an ongoing case in the same court and has never missed a hearing.
“How can a man have six cases before one magistrate in a single day? My lawyer told the judge I’m not even in Nigeria, yet an arrest order was issued,” he said.
Allegations of Suppression
He further disclosed that another court had issued an injunction preventing him from discussing Mercy Chinwo and her manager, Eezee Tee. He believes this is part of a coordinated effort to silence him.
“They want to create a media spectacle. Their plan is for me to return to Nigeria, get arrested, and make it seem like Mercy Chinwo has won. But even if they handcuff me, it won’t change the truth about the abuse of power and influence,” he stated.
Vows to Fight Back
Vowing to resist what he describes as judicial intimidation, VeryDarkMan insisted that he would continue to expose those allegedly conspiring against him.
His claims have sparked fresh debates on judicial integrity, power abuse, and freedom of speech in Nigeria. As the controversy unfolds, many are closely watching how the case will progress.
