Nollywood actress Omowunmi Dada has revealed she battled sepsis, a life-threatening condition, while working on a movie set in Oyo town.
Sepsis occurs when the body’s immune system reacts severely to an infection, leading to organ dysfunction and potentially fatal complications.
Dada shared her ordeal in response to a post by her colleague, Jemima Osunde, who recounted her own experience with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), a bacterial infection contracted on a movie set in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Osunde revealed that her struggle with H. pylori spanned three years and eventually developed into gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Reacting to Osunde’s story, Dada disclosed that she was infected with sepsis while filming in Oyo town. She explained that the production team abandoned her in a hotel, leaving her to rely on her family and management team, who arranged for her emergency transportation to a hospital in Ibadan.
Dada also revealed that, despite covering her medical expenses, the production team demanded a full refund from her after the incident.
“My dear… I got sepsis on a project in Oyo. They literally left me in the hotel. Thank God my family and management got a car to take me to a hospital in Ibadan. I got there unconscious. It was SEPSIS, and I was lucky to be alive. Funny thing, production asked for a full refund. Hmm…” she wrote.

Jemima Osunde responded to Omowunmi Dada, expressing shock and gratitude that her colleague survived the severe health crisis.
“OMG!!! Sepsis?? Thank God for your life, Sis! THANK GOD!” Osunde wrote.
She also revealed she faced a similar situation with her production team after contracting Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) during a shoot. According to Osunde, the team requested a refund despite her health struggles and failure to provide support during her recovery.
“I got myself to Lagos and to the hospital. Paid for my treatment myself. They were sending me messages about a refund. By the time my team sent a response with all the clauses they had breached in the contract, they went quiet,” Osunde added. “Talking about a refund when you haven’t even asked if I’ve recovered.”
