President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accepted an invitation from King Charles III to embark on a state visit to the United Kingdom.
This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday by the UK Mission in Nigeria via its official X account.
According to the statement, the visit, scheduled for Wednesday, March 18, and Thursday, March 19, will mark the first state visit by a Nigerian leader to the UK since 1989.
The mission noted that the visit presents an opportunity to deepen the long-standing partnership between both countries.
Tinubu will be accompanied by the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, while King Charles and Queen Camilla are expected to host the Nigerian delegation at Windsor Castle.
“The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Mr Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, has accepted an invitation from His Majesty The King to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Wednesday, 18th March to Thursday, 19th March 2026.
“This historic visit provides an opportunity to further strengthen the enduring partnership between our two nations.
“The King and Queen will host the State Visit at Windsor Castle,” the statement said.
