President Bola Tinubu will leave Abuja on Monday for a state visit to the Republic of Türkiye.
The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.
According to Onanuga, the visit seeks to deepen bilateral ties and expand cooperation in security, education, social development, innovation, and aviation. It also serves as a reciprocal gesture following Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s state visit to Nigeria in October 2021.
During the trip, President Tinubu and Turkish officials will hold high-level political and diplomatic talks covering finance, communication, trade, and investment. Both countries are also expected to sign memoranda of understanding in areas including scientific research, energy, technical cooperation, media and communications, military collaboration, and protocol.
A Nigeria–Türkiye business forum will also take place, bringing investors from both countries together to explore new opportunities.
Members of the president’s delegation include the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Tuggar; Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi SAN; Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (retd); and Chairman of the House Committee on Defence, Jimi Benson.
Others are the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Suleiman-Ibrahim; Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo; Minister of Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa; National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; and Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Mohammed Mohammed.
President Tinubu is expected to return to Nigeria after the visit.
