President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on the Nigerian Armed Forces to intensify efforts against terrorism, banditry, and insurgency. He assured them of his administration’s unwavering support and a renewed focus on improving their welfare.
While addressing the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Katsina on Friday, Tinubu described the current security situation as a pivotal point in Nigeria’s history. He encouraged the soldiers to remain steadfast in defending the country’s sovereignty and bringing peace to every region.
“This is a defining moment in our history,” he said. “The threats we face have persisted for too long, and Nigerians are counting on you to reclaim every inch of our territory.”
As part of his two-day visit to Katsina State, the President also inaugurated a 24km dual-carriageway and the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre. He used the occasion to energise the troops with a rallying message.
“Let your determination echo through every valley and forest. Let the enemies of Nigeria know, their time is up. This fight is not just for territory; it is a battle for the soul of our nation.”
Troops’ Sacrifices Will Be Matched with Action
In addition to praising their bravery, Tinubu stressed that victory depends on more than firepower. According to him, it is the courage, unity, and will of the soldiers that will ultimately triumph.
Consequently, he reaffirmed his promise to invest in their welfare. The government, he said, is committed to prompt allowance payments, improved healthcare, accessible housing, family support schemes, and comprehensive insurance coverage.
“Your welfare is my top priority,” the President affirmed. “We are taking concrete steps to support you because your sacrifices deserve nothing less.”
Moreover, Tinubu issued a strong warning to those working against the nation’s stability. He declared that Nigeria will not yield to fear, terror, or betrayal.
“To domestic collaborators and foreign agents who seek to destabilise our country, know this: Nigeria will not bow,” he declared.
As he wrapped up his address, the President commended the troops for their resilience in battling bandits in Katsina and beyond. Each operation, he said, represents a win for justice and a safer future for generations to come.
“You are the shield of Nigeria,” he said. “Every inch of land you protect, every threat you neutralise, and every community you secure is a step toward lasting peace.”
