Senator Iyabo Obasanjo-Bello, an aspirant for the Ogun State governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to deepening democracy and advancing national development.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Obasanjo-Bello disclosed details of her recent meeting with the President in Lagos, describing the engagement as productive and insightful.

The former senator, who represented Ogun Central between 2007 and 2011 and also served as Commissioner for Health in Ogun State, said the discussions centred on leadership, governance, and the country’s continued development.

“Yesterday in Lagos, I had the privilege of meeting His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” she said.

“Our conversation was insightful and forward-looking, focusing on leadership, governance, and the ongoing development of our nation and Ogun State.”

She expressed appreciation to the President for his time and guidance, noting his enduring commitment to strengthening democratic institutions and supporting emerging leaders.

Reaffirming her ambition to succeed Governor Dapo Abiodun in 2027, Obasanjo-Bello said she remains dedicated to a people-centred leadership approach.

“As consultations continue ahead of 2027, I remain committed to serving with integrity, experience, and a people-centred vision. The journey continues with purpose and clarity,” she stated.

Highlighting her experience in Ogun State politics, she stressed her deep understanding of the people’s needs and governance challenges.

“I have been actively involved in the political landscape of this state for years and understand the aspirations of our people. Experience is critical to delivering meaningful development,” she added.

Outlining her policy priorities, the former lawmaker emphasised education, healthcare, and job creation as key focus areas.

“Ogun State requires leadership that understands its people and is committed to transforming every sector of the economy,” she said.

“If elected, I will prioritise strengthening education, improving healthcare delivery, and creating employment opportunities for our youths.

“We must build a state where young people can access jobs, schools nurture future leaders, and healthcare systems meet the needs of all citizens. My commitment is to ensure inclusive development and improved quality of life across Ogun State.”
