The Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Senator John Owan Enoh, has assured that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration will provide essential support and incentives to tackle the challenges facing key industries in Nigeria, aiming to drive the country’s industrial revolution.

Senator John Owan Enoh gave this assurance at the launch of the South West phase of the nationwide Industrial Tour, where he visited selected industries in Lagos and Ogun States. During the three-day tour, the minister, accompanied by a delegation of technocrats and policy planners from the Ministry, engaged with leading industrial players, including Sunflag Nigeria Limited, GB Foods, Berger Paints, Friesland Campina WAMCO Plc, and Mojec Group in Lagos State, as well as TGI, Veenocks Nigeria Limited, Coleman Cables and Wires, Equipment and Protective Applications International Limited (EPAIL), and Mikano Industries in Ogun State.

During a media briefing at Sunflag Nigeria Limited in Lagos, the Minister acknowledged the significant decline in the textile industry, noting its adverse impact on productivity and employment in this vital sector. Addressing the company’s Managing Director and top executives, he reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting local manufacturers. He also announced plans to convene a session with Cotton Textile Garment stakeholders soon to tackle the challenges hindering the industry’s growth.

Senator Enoh Reaffirms Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for Industrial Growth

The Minister emphasized that the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration, in line with its Renewed Hope Agenda, remains fully committed to revitalizing struggling industries. This initiative aims to boost the production of made-in-Nigeria goods and services, strengthen the economy, and generate extensive job opportunities for Nigerians.

He stated that the government has introduced various incentives to ease business challenges and remains committed to supporting existing enterprises to foster their growth and expansion.

“I have the immediate mandate to promote Made-in-Nigeria goods and services. My visit here is to assure you that if there is a government that is committed to doing that, it is the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. You can see that this government has continued to show a lot of courage and energy. And that’s what this country requires now,’ he said.

He highlighted that the government has implemented various incentives to mitigate business challenges and will continue to support existing enterprises to enhance their growth and expansion.

Enoh praised the companies’ resilience in the face of the country’s daunting economic challenges. He said, “We commend the resilience of these companies for believing in the country despite the challenges; we want to assure them that the goal of the government is to lessen challenges that continue to impact the ease of doing business in Nigeria.”

Senator Enoh to Inaugurate Industrial Revolution Work Group

The Minister announced the forthcoming inauguration of the Industrial Revolution Work Group, which will include representatives from various sectors, including the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). This group will function as a think tank and a link between industries and the government, facilitating a better understanding of key challenges and collaboratively developing and implementing solutions.

He noted that the Industrial Revolution Work Group (IRWG) is part of his six key priorities, which also include the Nigeria Automotive Industry Development Plan (NAIDP), Special Agro-Processing Zones (SAPZ), Cotton, Textiles and Garments (CTG) Industry, Petrochemical, Chemical & Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and MSME Census.

Industry Leaders Applaud Minister’s Leadership Approach

Several CEOs of the industries visited praised the Minister for his hands-on leadership approach and lauded the government’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with industry stakeholders to drive growth in Nigeria’s manufacturing sector.
