President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Sunday met with Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, in a renewed effort to resolve the lingering political crisis in the state.

The meeting took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, according to sources within the Presidency.

Sources linked the talks to the ongoing leadership dispute in Rivers State and earlier attempts by some lawmakers to impeach Governor Fubara. However, details of the discussions were not disclosed.

The latest engagement underscores the administration’s concern over stability in the oil-rich state and marks what observers believe is at least the fourth direct intervention by President Tinubu to ease tensions between the two political figures.

One source also disclosed that after the meeting at Aso Rock, Governor Fubara accompanied Wike to his residence in Guzape, Abuja.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Presidency nor the parties involved had issued an official statement on the outcome of the meeting.
