The Amalgamated Southern Nigeria Youths Forum has declared its support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, rejecting what it describes as politically motivated attempts to discredit him.
Allegations Dismissed as Baseless
Speaking at a press briefing, the forum’s president, Hon. Prince Victor, and secretary, Emmanuel Okorafor, criticized recent accusations against Akpabio, particularly claims of sexual harassment. They dismissed the allegations as unfounded, arguing that they are part of a broader effort to undermine his leadership.
Call for Fair Resource Allocation
Beyond defending Akpabio, the youth leaders raised concerns about economic and developmental disparities between the northern and southern regions. They emphasized the need for equitable distribution of national resources, particularly increased investments in the Niger Delta’s oil and gas sector.
Appeal for Senate Stability
The group also urged President Bola Tinubu to step in and ensure political stability in the Senate. They stressed that Akpabio’s leadership is essential for advancing the interests of the South-South region and maintaining balance in national policymaking.
Focus on Governance and Unity
Calling for an end to political distractions, the forum urged all stakeholders to prioritize governance and national unity. They reaffirmed their commitment to peaceful dialogue and pledged to continue advocating for fair treatment of the Niger Delta and the broader southern region in federal decision-making.
