By combining security, infrastructure, and social investment, Governor Charles Soludo is not just changing Anambra State, he’s setting a national example. From curbing crime to uplifting underserved communities, his administration is championing a people-first model of governance that prioritizes safety, opportunity, and dignity for all.
In a rare and commendable move, Soludo has gone beyond chasing criminals; he’s dismantling the systems that support them, fake native doctors, false prophets, and collaborators. Through the “Oso Soludo” campaign and a tech-powered security network, Operation Udo-Ga-Achi and Agunechemba, the state has taken a proactive stand, making communities safer and more resilient.
Transforming Neglect into Opportunity
Soludo’s urban renewal efforts go beyond aesthetics, they’re about restoring hope and access. Okpoko, once written off as a neglected slum, is now a symbol of what inclusive development looks like. Tarred roads, a general hospital, working streetlights, and clean water have replaced decades of infrastructural decay.
In Olumbanasa, a riverine area in Anambra West long isolated from state attention, Soludo made history as the first governor to visit. His visit brought not just roads and facilities but a clear message: no community is too remote to matter.
Awka, the state capital, once dismissed as a glorified village, is now home to a new Government House and Governor’s Lodge, after 34 years of waiting. More than 30 new public buildings, including a modern amphitheatre, have turned the area into a vibrant hub of activity, service, and culture.
Access for All: Water, Governance, and Renewal
The extensive rehabilitation of the State House of Assembly and Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square is not just about buildings, it’s about improving democratic engagement and public service delivery.
Access to clean water, a basic human right, is being restored through the revival of five major urban water schemes, Awka, Otuocha, Nnewi, Obizi, and Greater Onitsha. These initiatives are bringing dignity back to thousands of households.
Investing in People, Powering the Future
Governor Soludo’s people-centric policies put education, health, and youth empowerment at the core. By hiring 8,115 teachers from 18 states and introducing free education up to the senior secondary level, his government is investing in a future where every child can thrive, regardless of background.
In healthcare, over 1,000 professionals have been recruited. Free antenatal care and caesarean sections are helping thousands of women give birth safely. As of February 2025, over 102,000 expectant mothers have benefited, with more than 400 safe deliveries recorded, at no cost.
To boost food security and youth employment, the Farm-to-Feed program and One Youth, Two Skills initiative are unlocking local talent and driving entrepreneurship. The Solution Fun City and tech-driven digital skills programs are creating new pathways in entertainment, innovation, and the knowledge economy.
Governor Soludo’s vision is not just transforming buildings, it’s transforming lives. From the rural farmer to the urban student, from the market trader to the tech-savvy youth, every Anambra citizen is becoming part of the solution. His administration continues to show that inclusive leadership, when rooted in purpose, can uplift an entire state, and inspire a nation.
