Governor Charles Soludo has extended heartfelt greetings to traditional rulers in the Southeast, stressing the need for unity and collaboration to drive the region’s progress.

Speaking at a recent meeting of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, he emphasized the importance of working together. He said every stakeholder plays a crucial role in the region’s development.

In a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor called on traditional rulers and community organizations to cooperate actively. “As South East governors, we are working in synergy. So far, the results are encouraging,” he noted.

Soludo praised the Southeast’s rich culture and diversity. He stressed that unity, despite differences, remains the region’s greatest strength. “Though we differ, we share common roots. Our strength lies in standing together. Let’s keep that spirit alive,” he urged.

He also highlighted the importance of language in cultural preservation. “The Igbo language binds us, despite our dialectal differences,” he said. However, he expressed concern about declining traditional values. “The Igbo land I grew up in has changed. We’ve lost many of the taboos and values that once held us together.”

The governor encouraged traditional rulers to lead the effort in reclaiming their cultural identity. He decried rising moral decay, where ill-gotten wealth now receives praise. “A society becomes what it celebrates,” he warned, urging a return to the values of hard work, integrity, and enterprise.

Commendation from Traditional Leaders

Dr. E.C. Okeke, Chairman of the South East Traditional Rulers Council, commended Soludo for his leadership. He praised the governor’s commitment to regional progress. “You are a good governor, making meaningful impact in every area,” Okeke stated.

He also called for continued cooperation among South East governors to enhance development.

Among the dignitaries at the event were Igwe Chidubem Iweka, Chairman of the Anambra State Traditional Rulers’ Council; former chairman Igwe Alfred Nnaemeka Achebe; Commissioner for Local Government, Town Union and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Tony-Collins Nwabunwanne; and delegates from other Southeast states.
