Renowned clergywoman, peace advocate, former presidential candidate and distinguished academic, Professor Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has strongly commended the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) for what she described as its courageous and prophetic stand for peace, justice, national unity and the protection of Christian values in Nigeria amid rising insecurity and socio-economic hardship.
Professor Adesanya-Davies gave the commendation while reacting to ongoing nationwide calls for peaceful civic engagement, prayer movements and advocacy for national healing in 2026. She noted that the PFN has continued to provide spiritual leadership and moral guidance during one of the most challenging periods in Nigeria’s democratic history.
According to her, peaceful protests and lawful civic expressions aimed at restoring justice, security and good governance remain constitutional rights that must be carried out responsibly, prayerfully and without violence.
“The Church must continue to stand as the light of the nation. The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria has remained consistent in promoting peace, unity, righteousness and godly leadership in Nigeria,” she stated.
She further emphasized that Christians must not allow anger, frustration or political tension to destroy the unity and peace of the nation.
Professor Adesanya-Davies declared:
“Nigeria needs healing, reconciliation and national rebirth. PFN has shown spiritual maturity by encouraging believers to remain peaceful while standing for truth and justice.”
She urged Nigerian youths, Christian leaders and citizens participating in any peaceful demonstrations or civic activities to avoid violence, destruction of public property and hate speech.
Quoting the Holy Scriptures, she referenced Matthew 5:9:
“Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.”
She also cited 2 Chronicles 7:14:
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray… then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Professor Adesanya-Davies lamented the growing insecurity, kidnappings, economic hardship and fear affecting many Nigerian communities, stressing that the time has come for sincere national dialogue, justice and people-oriented governance.
She praised Christian bodies and civil society organizations advocating peaceful reforms and national healing, noting that the unity of the Church remains critical for the survival of Nigeria’s democracy and peaceful coexistence.
“The Church must not keep silent in times of pain and injustice. However, our response must always reflect Christ — through peace, wisdom, prayer and lawful action,” she added.
The respected peace ambassador also called on security agencies to protect citizens’ constitutional rights while maintaining law and order during peaceful gatherings and demonstrations across the country.
Bishop Adesanya-Davies also encouraged the Muslim bodies to emulate them for peaceful reforms, because it was first the Christians, but now – Nobody is being spared.
The Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), one of Nigeria’s foremost Christian umbrella bodies, continues to play major roles in spiritual revival, national advocacy, interdenominational unity and moral leadership within the nation.
