prepared. Former Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Edward Onoja, accused immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello of breaking his promise to make him governor.

Edward Onoja's interview on @ChannelsTelevision

Speaking during an interview with Channels Television on Saturday, Onoja revealed that Bello had assured him in 2019 that he would be his successor, but later endorsed Usman Ododo instead.

“Four years before the 2023 elections, Yahaya Bello called me and said, ‘You will succeed me. Be p.’ It was shocking and disappointing when he later told me he had chosen Ododo. When a friend gives his word, you expect him to stand by it,” Onoja said.

Onoja, who expressed deep disappointment over the development, served as Deputy Governor of Kogi State from 2019 to 2024. Before then, he held the position of Chief of Staff to the governor from January 2016 until October 2019, when he assumed the deputy governorship seat.
