The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the timetable for the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course for prospective corps members nationwide.
The disclosure was made in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the NYSC Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, who outlined key dates and participation guidelines.
According to the statement, the three-week orientation programme will be conducted simultaneously across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory for eligible participants.
The exercise will begin with the reception and registration of prospective corps members from April 22 to midnight on April 24 at orientation camps nationwide.
The NYSC added that the swearing-in ceremony will hold on April 24, marking the official commencement of orientation activities across the country.
Embu further stated that the programme will conclude on May 12, after which corps members will proceed to their respective places of primary assignment.
The scheme advised all mobilised graduates to ensure safe travel to their designated orientation camps ahead of the exercise.
She reiterated the NYSC’s warning against night travel, urging prospective corps members to prioritise their safety while en route to camps and other assigned locations.
“Prospective corps members are advised to break their journeys once it is 6:00 p.m. and pass the night at any available lodge or secure location nearby. They should continue their journeys the following morning,” she said.
The NYSC orientation course remains a mandatory programme designed to prepare Nigerian graduates for the one-year national service.
Established in 1973, the NYSC aims to foster national unity and integration by deploying graduates to states outside their states of origin.
