On Tuesday, August 19, 2025, all thirty-six state governors will gather in Abuja for the launch of the Subnational Investment Platform, known as NGF Investopedia.
The event, organised by the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) Secretariat, will highlight investment opportunities in every state. It aims to drive economic growth and promote sustainable development nationwide.
Strengthening Partnerships and Driving Growth
Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, NGF’s Director of Media and Strategic Communications, confirmed the launch will take place at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja. According to him, the initiative will strengthen governance, attract global capital, and create lasting public–private partnerships.
During the programme, each governor will present top investment projects. In addition, a ceremonial MoU signing will formalise partnerships and establish the NGF Fund.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) will deliver a keynote speech, offering sovereign backing to boost investor confidence in the platform.
Global and Institutional Participation
The event will also feature foreign investors, ambassadors, and experts from Afreximbank, MOFI, UNDP Cavista, and the Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC). Furthermore, the NGF will distribute the Investopedia to development finance institutions (DFIs), embassies, and private investment desks.
This initiative addresses persistent challenges, including low investor confidence, poor project visibility, and fragmented entry channels.
A One-Stop Investment Guide
The NGF Investopedia will showcase multi-sector projects, from infrastructure to agriculture, with in-depth data, policy incentives, and market insights. It will be available in both print and digital formats, serving as a one-stop resource for matchmaking and transactions.
Moreover, the NGF will present the Investopedia at major international events such as the Intra-African Trade Fair in Algeria, the UN General Assembly in New York, and the Africa Investment Forum in Morocco.
Clear Strategic Objectives
The NGF seeks to:
Connect Nigerian states with credible global investors.
Increase visibility for state-level projects.
Build long-term, mutually beneficial partnerships.
Plans Beyond the Launch
Following the event, the NGF will organise investment clinics to promote direct engagement between governments and businesses. Additionally, capacity-building programmes on public–private partnership (PPP) structuring and risk management will roll out from late 2025 into 2026.
Through NGF Investopedia, Nigeria aims to unlock billions in untapped global capital, presenting itself as a coordinated and trustworthy investment destination.
