The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has expressed shock and deep sorrow over the sudden death of its newly re-elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Karamo Yesiro.

According to a report by Premium Times on Thursday, March 5, Yesiro died barely 24 hours after securing re-election as the party’s deputy spokesperson during the Lagos State APC Congress held at Onikan Stadium.

Yesiro had been returned to office alongside the Lagos APC chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, and other members of the State Executive Committee for another four-year term.

Ojelabi and his team emerged unopposed in what party leaders described as a consensus arrangement, with delegates affirming the executive members amid applause at the congress venue.

The late Yesiro was expected to be part of the newly elected Lagos APC executive members scheduled for inauguration at the party’s secretariat on Thursday, March 5, 2026.

In a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, described Yesiro’s sudden death as a painful and tragic loss.

Oladejo noted that the party chieftain passed away shortly after being entrusted with the responsibility of serving on the State Executive Council.

“The Lagos State Chapter of the APC received with profound shock and deep sorrow the news of the sudden demise of our newly elected Assistant Publicity Secretary, Hon. Karamo Yesiro,” the statement read.

“His death came at a time when his energy, commitment and passion for progressive politics were most needed.”

Oladejo further stated that although his tenure was cut short, Yesiro left a lasting impression on party members and colleagues.

“His enthusiasm, humility and readiness to serve left a lasting impression on colleagues and members alike. He was a vibrant party man whose contributions to the growth and stability of the APC in Lagos State will not be forgotten,” the statement added.
