In the wake of recent media reports highlighting driver protests and alleged unrest within Nigeria’s ride-hailing sector, global mobility platform inDrive has issued an official statement clarifying its position and reinforcing its core values of fairness, transparency, and driver autonomy.

The company firmly stated that contrary to circulating claims, it has not witnessed a decline in driver participation. In fact, inDrive reports a steady increase in driver sign-ups across Nigeria, signaling strong confidence in the platform’s model.

“Our data shows continued growth, with more drivers joining the platform daily,” the company noted. “The drivers on inDrive are independent professionals, not union members, and they retain full control over their work.”

Empowering Drivers Through Fair Pricing and Flexibility

inDrive differentiates itself with a unique fare negotiation system, allowing drivers and passengers to agree on pricing that works for both parties. This approach, the company says, gives drivers greater control over their income and eliminates the rigid pricing models used by other platforms.

With a service fee set at just 9.99%, inDrive also claims the lowest commission rate in Nigeria’s ride-hailing market, enabling drivers to maximize their earnings.

Operations Unaffected by Protests, Company Stands Open to Dialogue

Addressing the recent union-led demonstrations reported in the media, inDrive emphasized that these actions have not impacted their operations. According to the company, most inDrive drivers are not affiliated with the protesting unions and continue to accept ride requests as usual. Demand for rides remains stable, and the platform has not observed any service disruptions.

Timothy Oladimeji, Country Representative for inDrive in Nigeria, reiterated the company’s stance:

“We remain committed to a ride-hailing model where both drivers and passengers have the freedom to negotiate and choose pricing. Our mission is built on transparency and fairness, and we’re always open to constructive dialogue with stakeholders.”

As the ride-hailing landscape continues to evolve in Nigeria, inDrive says it remains open to discussions with media, regulators, and industry stakeholders to ensure continued progress in the sector.

About inDrive:

With operations in 779 cities across 46 countries, inDrive has grown into one of the world’s most downloaded mobility apps, offering ride-hailing, delivery, and intercity transport services. The company’s mission extends beyond transportation, with its non-profit arm, inVision, supporting community-driven initiatives in education, gender equality, sports, and the arts.
