…Audifax Onuoha Takes Helm, Pledges Strategic Development and Stronger ICAN–Fidelity Alliance
The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Fidelity Bank Chapter, has officially inaugurated Mr. Audifax Onuoha as Chairman during its 4th Investiture and Patron Conferment Ceremony, held at Fidelity Bank’s Head Office, Lagos. The event also marked the swearing-in of the 2025–2027 Executive Committee, setting the stage for a renewed focus on capacity building, professional excellence, and strategic alignment with the bank’s vision.
Onuoha, a seasoned Chartered Accountant and the current Group Head, Compliance Risk Management at Fidelity Bank Plc, takes over from Mr. Victor Abejegah, the bank’s Chief Financial Officer. In his address, Onuoha committed to enhancing the technical expertise of ICAN members within Fidelity Bank and beyond.
“Our administration will drive continuous learning and skill development to prepare our members for the demands of today’s rapidly evolving financial services sector,” Onuoha stated.
A data science expert and anti-money laundering (AML) specialist, Onuoha emphasized continuity, pledging to build on the progress made by his predecessor and to deepen the collaboration between ICAN and Fidelity Bank to foster a resilient and innovative financial ecosystem.
“We will expand our membership base, attract more Chartered Accountants, and invest in initiatives that enhance intellectual capital and compliance culture within the bank,” he added.
Fidelity Bank executives present at the event also reaffirmed their support. The Chairman of the Occasion, Mr. Jude Monye, Regional Bank Head – Ikeja, stressed the urgency of prioritizing professional development in the current business climate.
“Capacity building is not optional—it’s essential. Let your tenure be remembered for transformative programs that empower members with insight, agility, and relevance,” Monye advised.
He credited the Chapter’s success to the unwavering backing of the bank’s leadership, especially its Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, noting the Chapter’s transformation into a robust hub for accounting innovation and career advancement.
Former Chairman, Mr. Victor Abejegah, outlined notable achievements from his term, including entrepreneurship training in fish farming, poultry, snail farming, and export processing. He also highlighted advancements in member welfare, particularly insurance claims and support for bereaved families.
A highlight of the ceremony was the Patron Award conferred on Mr. Stanley Amuchie, Executive Director/Chief Operations and Information Officer at Fidelity Bank Plc. With over 25 years of banking experience, Amuchie was honored for his exceptional contributions to the industry.
“This recognition is a call to serve—as a mentor, advocate, and bridge-builder within both the ICAN network and the broader Fidelity Bank community,” he stated.
The investiture concluded with the 61st President of ICAN, Mallam Haruna Yahaya, overseeing the swearing-in of the new executive committee, symbolizing the beginning of a new leadership chapter for the Fidelity Bank Chapter.
