Access Bank has earned the ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certification, the global standard for Privacy Information Management Systems. The achievement highlights the Bank’s dedication to data privacy, strong security, and regulatory compliance.

Certification Scope and Coverage

This recognition confirms that Access Bank operates a Privacy Information Management System (PIMS) that fully meets international requirements. It covers the management, processing, and protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) belonging to customers, employees, and third parties.

Protecting Information Across All Assets

The certification extends to both physical and digital assets. It includes processes and systems for collecting, storing, sharing, and disposing of PII across the Bank. In addition, the Statement of Applicability, version 15.0, dated March 27, 2025, affirms Access Bank’s dual role as a PII Controller and Processor. The achievement is referenced under ISMS Certificate No. IS 583140.

Leadership’s Perspective

Dr. Favour Femi-Oyewole, Group Chief Information Security Officer / Data Protection Officer, said, “Achieving the ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certification proves Access Bank’s proactive approach to information security, Data Protection, and Privacy. It reflects our commitment to protecting customer trust and promoting continuous improvement. Moreover, it reinforces our position as a leader in privacy information management across the financial services sector.”

Lanre Bamisebi, Executive Director, IT and Digitisation, Access Holdings, added, “Securing this certification represents a milestone in our journey to embed privacy and data protection within our digital strategy. It also shows the value of our investments in digital innovation. Furthermore, it reflects our focus on building resilient systems that meet global standards while anticipating future customer and regulatory expectations. The achievement is a product of cross-functional collaboration and forward-looking governance.”

Strengthening Trust Through Privacy Management

By attaining ISO/IEC 27701:2019 certification, Access Bank demonstrates its investment in security infrastructure and dedication to stakeholder trust. The Bank remains committed to protecting individual privacy rights and adapting to global data protection changes.
