Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), inaugurated the new executive committee of the party’s France Chapter in Paris. He urged Nigerians in the diaspora to fully support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and Renewed Hope Agenda.

Ganduje Calls for Unity and Support from Diaspora

Speaking at the event held over the weekend, Ganduje stressed the importance of unity among party members in the diaspora. He emphasized their role in supporting the administration’s economic transformation. While acknowledging that the reforms may be challenging, he noted their necessity for Nigeria’s long-term economic stability.

“These reforms may seem painful, but they are necessary steps to reposition Nigeria’s economy for sustainable growth,” Ganduje explained.

Ganduje praised the diaspora for their active role in expanding the party’s reach abroad and promoting membership growth. He assured the gathering that the party would continue working with the National Assembly to make diaspora voting a reality. “We appreciate you for holding the banner of our party and supporting President Tinubu’s reforms,” he added.

He highlighted the increased funding for capital development, benefiting governors and local government chairmen.

Ganduje also referenced recent National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings, where party members expressed overwhelming support for President Tinubu’s administration. “A vote of confidence was passed on President Tinubu at the NEC meeting, recognizing his progress in driving reforms, particularly in the economic sector,” Ganduje said.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Ganduje expressed confidence in the APC’s future. He pointed to the growing internal stability and defections from other political parties. “There is peace in the APC, unlike in other parties struggling with internal crises. Many are joining our party, including senators, members of the House of Representatives, and other notable political figures,” he said.

In her response, newly inaugurated chairlady of the APC France Chapter, Amina Musa Baba Suzuki, underscored the significant contributions of the Nigerian diaspora. She highlighted their role as not only economic contributors but also political stakeholders. “The Nigerian diaspora contributes billions through remittances, investments, and as proud ambassadors of Nigeria’s democracy,” Suzuki said.

Suzuki also advocated for stronger support for diaspora chapters, emphasizing their role as mobilizers and promoters of Nigeria’s interests abroad. She ended with a passionate appeal for diaspora voting. “Under your visionary leadership, we believe diaspora voting can become a reality. Where there is a will, there is always a way,” she urged Ganduje.
