A Birthday Poem of Thanksgiving, Grace, Courage and Triumph
Glory to God, the Giver of life,
The One who sustains through struggle and strife.
For sixty-four years of mercy and grace,
We lift our voices in joyful praise!
Sixty-four years of a journey divine,
Of lessons, victories, purpose and time.
Through valleys of sorrow and mountains of pain,
God’s hand has sustained her through sunshine and rain.

Prof. Funmilayo Adesanya, a woman of grace,
A radiant testimony of God’s warm embrace.
A scholar of wisdom, a voice for the meek,
With courage to stand and compassion to speak.
A daughter of purpose, a woman of might,
Who keeps moving forward when dim is the light.
With knowledge as armour and faith as her shield,
She plants seeds of hope in life’s harvest field.
In classrooms of learning, her wisdom takes flight,
She opens young minds to the power of light.
Through language and learning, she builds up a nation,
Imparting knowledge and hope to each new generation.
Yet beyond all the titles, the honours and fame,
Is a heart that remembers the Lord’s holy name.
For earthly crowns fade and human praises may cease,
But God gives the soul everlasting peace.
When storms gathered fiercely and pathways grew steep,
When burdens were heavy and nights offered no sleep,
She held on to God when the road was unclear,
Trusting His presence to conquer each fear.
But God! What a testimony those words proclaim,
A story of mercy that magnifies His name.
When human strength falters and hope seems to die,
The Lord lifts the fallen and answers their cry.
At sixty-four, her story is still unfolding,
New dreams are awakening, new visions are calling.
For age cannot measure the purpose fulfilled,
Nor can time silence a God-given will.
Let wisdom increase and let favour abound,
Let peace and good health in her life be found.
May doors swing wide open, may new blessings descend,
And may God’s faithful goodness remain without end.
May the years ahead bring fulfilment and joy,
May nothing God purposes be allowed to destroy.
May her voice inspire and her footsteps lead,
As she flourishes in service, in word and in deed.
Let family and friends lift their voices today,
Let colleagues and students join gladly to say:
The Lord has been faithful; His goodness is clear.
We thank Him for Funmilayo’s sixty-fourth year!
Sixty-four cheers for a life full of meaning!
Sixty-four candles, God’s glory still beaming!
Sixty-four reasons to honour His grace,
With countless more blessings still waiting to embrace.
So dance, O beloved, let gratitude ring,
Let your heart overflow as your praises we sing.
For the God who has kept you will lead you once more,
With mercies unending and blessings in store.
Today, we celebrate not merely your age,
But the grace that has carried you through every stage.
Not merely your journey, your labour or name,
But the God who deserves all the glory and fame!

May your life keep declaring God’s power and love,
May your strength be renewed by the Father above.
May your latter days shine brighter than before,
With divine favour, open doors and blessings galore.
