Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, is set to meet with the Rt. Hon. Martins Amaewhule-led House of Assembly today at the Government House in Port Harcourt to address pressing governance issues, including the state budget.
The meeting follows last week’s Supreme Court judgment, which has intensified political tensions in the state. In a letter dated March 7, 2025, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, formally invited the lawmakers, emphasizing the need to resolve key legislative concerns.

The Supreme Court judgment had fueled speculations about a possible impeachment move against Fubara after the reinstated lawmakers issued an ultimatum for the submission of the budget.
In response, the Ijaw National Congress (INC) and its youth wing strongly warned against any attempt to remove the governor, who is the first riverine indigene to lead the state since 1999.
