Isaac Fayose, younger brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has challenged Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to consider what he would do outside government if President Bola Tinubu fails to secure victory in the FCT and Rivers State in the 2027 presidential election.
Fayose was reacting to Wike’s recent declaration that he would resign as FCT minister if Tinubu loses the territory in the 2027 election.
Wike reportedly made the statement on Wednesday while speaking to members and leaders of the Apo Mechanics and Traders Association in Abuja.

According to the minister, he would submit his resignation letter on January 17, 2027, a day after the scheduled presidential election, if Tinubu fails to win the FCT.
The comment has since generated reactions on social media, with some commentators questioning what the declaration could mean for the conduct of the election.
However, in a Facebook post on Thursday, Fayose said he expected Tinubu to lose both the FCT and Rivers State to Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), provided the election is conducted freely and fairly.
Fayose argued that Obi, who won the FCT in the 2023 presidential election, could strengthen his support in the territory in 2027.
He also dismissed Wike’s confidence in Tinubu’s prospects in Rivers State, insisting that Obi would perform strongly there as well.
“Wike, I’m telling you that Abuja is Obi. We won the last time, and this time, we will win more. APC will not get 25 percent in Abuja.
“Rivers State is also Obi. You are not going anywhere. Tinubu is tired; he needs to be retired so that Nigeria can move forward. The president is not even the one running the country; he just got back.
“We are winning Abuja and Rivers. Don’t let them hypnotise you by threatening that they have the power to rig. All power belongs to God.
“When they try to rig, we will all see. But if it’s free and fair, they can’t get 21 percent. Wike, Abuja and Rivers are not yours. Look for another job,” Fayose said.
He further alleged that some individuals were supporting Tinubu’s continued stay in office because of personal interests, adding that “it is time to take our country back.”
Meanwhile, the APC governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has expressed confidence that the party will face little opposition in the 2027 governorship election.
Adeola spoke during an APC Interfaith Prayer and Praise Concert held at the Ake Palace Ground in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The senator claimed that opposition parties in the state were dealing with internal difficulties and described them as “partyless.”
He predicted victories for the APC in the presidential, governorship and National Assembly elections in Ogun State.
“There will be nobody, because they are all partyless. They are running helter-skelter to rectify their shortcomings, but God has spoken that He is going to give us victory without a fight,” Adeola said.
He said an expected APC victory in the presidential election on January 16, 2027, would be followed by his own emergence as governor in the February 6 governorship election.
“That same God that will give us victory on January 16 will also support me to become the 17th Executive Governor of Ogun State.
“God will give us victory and clear our path without a fight, because there will be nobody contesting against us. God has started that already. On February 6, 2027, there will be nobody, because they are all partyless,” he said.
Adeola also expressed confidence in Tinubu’s re-election campaign and predicted victories for APC candidates contesting National Assembly seats across Ogun State.
He called on party supporters to remain actively involved in party activities, saying the prayers offered during the gathering would contribute to the party’s anticipated electoral victories.
Abiodun Seeks Divine Guidance Ahead of 2027
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, who also addressed the gathering, said the event was organised to seek divine guidance and commit the party’s activities ahead of the 2027 elections to God.
Abiodun recalled the challenges he faced during the 2019 governorship election, describing his eventual emergence as governor as a testimony of what he regarded as divine intervention.
“We have gathered here to seek the Almighty’s face and commit our journey of 2027 into His hands.
“Today, we have come here to put God first, to pray, dance and sing. I am very confident and without a doubt that our heart’s desires shall be granted to the men of God who have prayed for us,” he said.
The governor said the political circumstances surrounding the 2019 election had been difficult, but expressed confidence that the same divine intervention would guide the state through another transition.
“I recall how the journey was in 2018. When we started, it was not like this at all; it was tough. But God has used me as a testimony.
“The God of 2018 is still around, and He will continue to allow us to embark on a smooth transition from a sitting governor to the incoming governor,” Abiodun said.
