Dr. Emeka Kalu, President of the ECK Foundation, has endorsed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential ambition, citing his leadership qualities as vital to rescuing Nigeria from its current economic downturn and worsening insecurity.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Kalu described Atiku’s wealth of experience and unwavering determination as major strengths that position him as a formidable contender capable of unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

Kalu emphasized that aligning with Atiku could be a tactical move for the Igbo people, potentially laying the groundwork for Mr. Peter Obi’s future political aspirations and ensuring greater representation for the Southeast in Nigeria’s political landscape.

He maintained that Atiku’s past tenure as Vice President demonstrated his capacity to drive economic reforms, attract foreign investment, liberalize markets, and create jobs—credentials he believes are crucial to revitalizing Nigeria’s economy.

According to Kalu, Atiku possesses the political acumen to build bridges across Nigeria’s ethnically diverse regions, making him the ideal candidate to foster national unity and inclusion.

“Atiku’s broad-based national appeal positions him to transcend ethnic and political divisions and unite the country under a shared vision,” Kalu noted.

He added: “An Atiku presidency would catalyze major progress in infrastructure, investment, and security, all of which are essential to resuscitating Nigeria’s fragile economy.”

Describing Atiku as a truly detribalized Nigerian, Kalu lamented the ongoing ethnic tensions that continue to define the nation’s political space, urging Nigerians to embrace unity over division.

Kalu also stressed the need for a strong and cohesive opposition, warning that any alliance lacking a unified agenda would be ineffective in challenging the status quo.

He concluded by calling on Nigerians to rally behind Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 campaign, asserting that only selfless, visionary, and competent leadership can restore Nigeria’s economic health—a belief he said was central to his continued support for the 2023 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate.
