The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved the procurement of advanced security equipment for the newly constructed Government House and Governor’s Lodge.
The contract, awarded to Stansol Synergy Limited, will facilitate the installation of state-of-the-art security systems in these long-awaited government facilities. Governor Charles Soludo’s administration spearheaded the project, fulfilling a three-decade gap in the state’s infrastructure.
Soludo’s Vision for a Safer Anambra
Commissioner for Information, Law Mefor, emphasized that the move aligns with Governor Soludo’s unwavering commitment to making Anambra a crime-free state where residents can live, work, and invest without fear.
This initiative strengthens the recently signed Anambra State Homeland Security Law, which introduced Operation Udo Ga-Achi (meaning Peace Shall Reign). Launched in January, this security framework aims to combat rising crime and ensure public safety. Additionally, the law established Agunechemba, a state security outfit supporting law enforcement agencies.
Crackdown on Crime and New Security Mandates
The law enforces strict regulations on landlords, property owners, and hospitality businesses, requiring thorough background checks on tenants and guests to curb crimes like kidnapping, banditry, and illicit drug trade.
Governor Soludo’s administration has already made significant strides, leading to the arrest of kidnappers and the demolition of criminal hideouts in Ozubulu, Isiagu, Oba, and Nnewi. Authorities have also apprehended the criminals responsible for the murder of Hon. Justice Azuka, a state legislator.
Security Gains in High-Risk Areas
Previously troubled Local Government Areas, Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, and Nnewi North and South, among others, have regained stability through robust security interventions.
