Amanbra State Government Rejects False Claims of Arrests for Immodesty
The Anambra State Government has strongly refuted rumors circulating on social media alleging that it has begun arresting girls for dressing immodestly and walking without bras or underwear. The state condemned the claims as false, deceptive, and part of a deliberate effort to undermine the government’s credibility.
Governor Soludo’s Administration Reaffirms Commitment to Human Rights
In a statement issued by Governor Charles Soludo’s Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the administration reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the fundamental human rights and dignity of all residents in Anambra State. Aburime emphasized that the Soludo-led government does not interfere with personal choices regarding attire, as such decisions are protected by the Constitution of Nigeria.
Malicious Spread of Fake News Condemned
Aburime further criticized the malicious spread of fake news, which he stated was aimed at damaging the reputation of the state government. He urged the public to disregard such misinformation and warned against the potential consequences of spreading unfounded rumors that could cause unnecessary panic and tension in the state.
“We wish to categorically state that this information is not only false but also mischievous and calculated to mislead the public and paint the state government in a bad light,” Aburime stated.
Government Urges Public to Verify Information
The state government urged citizens to always verify news through official government channels before sharing any information. Aburime also reassured that Governor Soludo’s administration remains focused on pressing issues such as security, economic development, human capital growth, and urban regeneration for the benefit of Anambra State.
Focus on Development and Public Welfare
The government reiterated that Governor Soludo’s administration would continue to prioritize the security of lives and property, alongside the broader development goals of economic transformation and infrastructural improvement, while leaving trivial concerns aside.
